Love the lake have camped and boated 3 yrs now here. Love it. It's deep and clean. Hate they drop the water so low and so earily in the year tho. Hard for boats to get in and have to go to other places. Love the islands to stop and cook out and swim. It's amazing out there. I'm hooked on Holston lake..~{...

Holston River
Be sure if you go down this river that you check TVA.GOV for the generating schedule. It is a really good river to go down if they have generated for an hour or two. If you start the river before or right after the start generating you will run out of water. You will be draging your kayak before you know it. So remember give the water a little time to get ahead of you and you will have a great time. If you are wanting to start a little further down river the water moves about 3 mph from the time they start generating. Have a good time....

Riverside Campground

If you would like info on our campground please take a few moments to visit http://www.riversidecampgroundabingdon.com....I love riverside campground in abingdon VA. It offers so much to do for every one. Its safe and family oriented....This campground is peaceful, serene, and beautiful. The north fork of the Holston River passes along one side of the property. There is a lot to do for families and it isn't far from civilization if you're in need of some contact. They have hot showers, a store, and a pool on the grounds. It's my favorite campground to stay at. ...

Not normally hikers, and middle aged, this trail was a killer. We had a great time, and the scenery was beautiful, but we were worn out. We ran into a copperhead, twice, once on the way up, and again on the way down. Apparently he was guarding his territory. The falls weren't as full as we hoped, but there has been a lack of rain in this area. The trail in some area's were a bit rough, steep, and dangerous, but at least we can say we made it....
