It's deep and clean. Hate they drop the water so low and so earily in the year tho. Hard for boats to get in and have to go to other places. Love the islands to stop and cook out and swim. It's amazing out there. Through the days of summer at South Holston Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to South Holston Lake. Going for a hike along the Flint Mill Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and playing golf is lots of fun       at Steele CRK Park Golf Course. Bent Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth going to; South Holston Lake is a tremendous site to visit for more than one day, Low Gap Campground 2 is a tremendous site to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. South Holston Dam is scenic and it's close to South Holston Lake; Cocran's Lakeview Camp Ground is a glorious local campground. That right there is a lot already, but it continues; South Holston Lake has                  it all. After a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn Bristol is a great site to spend a night or two, and hiking along the Short Spur Trail is good fun. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard By Marriott Bristol Virginia. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Doe River is so much fun; since you're here why not check out Pigman Hollow. Whitewater paddling is great on Holston River; South Holston Lake is a site with many visitors from Bristol. Edmonds Spring is always fun to check out, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Holston Mountain Trail.
