You can take a little journey to South Holston Dam if you're here at South Holston Lake, and camping is available at Low Gap Campground 2. A fine spot to pop by next to South Holston Lake is Pigman Hollow; a good close by hotel is La Quinta Inn Bristol. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool things the area right next door to South Holston Lake has to offer. Good hiking is available along       the Short Spur Trail, and getting to Bent Branch from South Holston Lake is simple. The amount of rainfall that falls at South Holston Lake is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is July; October is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. There's wonderful hiking along the Flint Mill Trail; lots of folks from Bristol come here. Doe River is a good whitewater spot in close proximity to South Holston Lake;                  the Holston Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant site to camp here at South Holston Lake is Cocran's Lakeview Camp Ground; a great place for whitewater paddling is Holston River. Through the warm days of summer at South Holston Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at South Holston Lake temperatures fall to the 20's.
