This lake is one of the great places here in the Great Smoky Mountains. If you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Sweetwater is a wonderful choice; going for a hike on the Doc Rogers Trail is always a great adventure. Man, is there plenty of amusing stuff to do close to Shortfoots Pond. If you come at the right time of year, Wildcat Creek offers some wonderful whitewater, and Coker Creek Village is a fine campground       nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Comfort Inn West is a nice place to get some rest; Tellico Plains Koa is a perfect local campground. For the period of the warm months at Shortfoots Pond highs are commonly in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Shortfoots Pond. Some of the water nearby flows, like Atkins Branch, and close by you locate the Conasauga                  Falls Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool stuff the Great Smoky Mountains has to offer. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Tellico River, and the top of Atkins Knob is easily seen from Shortfoots Pond. Having a fine time in the Great Smoky Mountains is uncomplicated. The wonderful people of Athens like to hang out close by.
