The beauty of Scruggs Pond is reason enough to stop by. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. Take a little visit to Bear Creek since you're here at Scruggs Pond, and not far from Scruggs Pond you'll stumble on Easterly Pond which is a charming lake. If the weather is fine here at Scruggs Pond, you can go for a hike along the Meadow Creek Mountain Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, French Broad offers some pleasant whitewater.

| | The Gum Springs Trail is a delightful hiking trail near Scruggs Pond; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Scruggs Spring. High temperatures at Scruggs Pond through the summertime are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. Don't leave Scruggs Pond without first checking out Skulley Bluff, and while you're here, you might as well go to Scsruggs Shoals. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Executive Inn, and Banks
Farms Campground is a pleasant campground here. This lake is so wonderful. Near Scruggs Pond you hit upon the Tweed Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and if you need a location to stay Greeneville/Bulls Gap Super 8 Motel is
a glorious choice.
Scruggs Pond generally gets a lot of rain; the month with most of the rain is May while October is usually the driest month. Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more cool stuff to do here at Scruggs
Pond. Scruggs Pond is a magnificent location to camp, Douglas Shores Campground is a magnificent location; Scruggs Pond is not far at all from Newport.
