Boones Creek is a stream that you may run into while here, and do check out Boone Lake, it's a stunning lake. Bristol-kingsport Koa Kampground is a great local campground, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express JOHNSON CITY is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Jameson Inn Johnson City, and       drift down the rapids of Watauga in a kayak. You believe that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. The Patty Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best; get yourself into a kayak and hit Nolichucky River. There are plenty of folks from Johnson City here at Sampson-Wood Lake, and if you're here, you could also pop by wonderful Halls Mill Pond. Sampson-Wood Lake is close to Maupin Hollow which is definitely worth taking a look at. The high level of precipitation                  makes Sampson-Wood Lake a pretty wet place; all through July this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is October. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Sampson-Wood Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's.
