For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Sampson-Wood Lake dip into the 20's. What a place this is for outdoors folks. Sampson-Wood Lake is a delightful       place to visit for more than one day, Bristol-Kingsport KOA is a delightful place to camp nearby; close by you stumble on the Patty Ridge Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Very great water scenery is available at Sampson-Wood Lake Dam in the neighborhood of Sampson-Wood Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express JOHNSON CITY, and there are some magnificent whitewater spots on Nolichucky River. You'll need more than a day to discover everything                  Sampson-Wood Lake has to offer, you can camp at Bristol-kingsport Koa Kampground, and lots of people from Johnson City come here. Sampson-Wood Lake is a wet place that gets a great deal of rain; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is October. This lake is so wonderful. Why not have a look at close by Boones Creek while you're here at Sampson-Wood Lake, and you'll come across a beautiful lake called Boone Lake. On a fine day at Sampson-Wood Lake you can take a hike along the Pinnacle Tower Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Watauga. This lake is so wonderful.
