A visit to Porter Lake is always a good idea. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Going for a hike on the Laurel-Snow Trail is always a magnificent adventure; at Porter Lake Dam near Porter Lake there are some out of the ordinary things to see. That right there is plenty already, but it keeps on going; Porter Lake has it all. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Ward Spring; needless to say Bush Creek is a

| | wonderful stream that is worth checking out. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. You can run the rapids of Little Piney Creek in the neighborhood of Porter Lake, and Porter Lake is not far at all from Athens.
There's so much to do here at Porter Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cotton Port Marina and Campground is a magnificent site for that, and there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Fooshee Pass | |

Trail. Porter Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; during March this area sees the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. Piney River is a tremendous whitewater spot near Porter Lake, and if you need a location
to stay Howard Johnson Spring City is a good choice.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Porter Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cottonport Fish N Camp, and Mountain View Inn & Suites
is a delightful place to get some rest. Through the warmest time of the year, highs generally are in the 80's at Porter Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun
is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Porter Lake plunge into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful.
