Ponderosa Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Ponderosa Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Man, is there loads of fun stuff to do close to Ponderosa Lake. Newport Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore. This lake is so wonderful. Smith Knob is trouble-free to spot from Ponderosa Lake, and the Racoon Loop is a perfect hiking trail

You just can't picture the amount of outdoors exciting stuff the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has to offer. Near Ponderosa Lake you find the Laurel Creek Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and Charit Creek Campground is a good local campground. Golf can be played at Oneida Golf & Country Club; after a long day outdoors Best Western South Fork Inn is a nice site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Ponderosa Lake, you could also pop by pretty Carter Lake, and going for a hike on the Deer Loop is always a great adventure.
Ponderosa Lake is located in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. High temperatures at Ponderosa Lake throughout the months of summer are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. High temperatures during the
wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Ponderosa Lake.
Having a great time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is easy. If you came for an overnight stay Bandy Creek Campground is a
glorious spot to camp, and while you're here, you might as well pop by Chambers Hollow. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this location. Visit Cotton Creek while you're here at Ponderosa Lake, and get your heart beating on the
great whitewater of Pine Creek. You can take a little spree to Ponderosa Lake Dam while you're here at Ponderosa Lake; there's whitewater on New River for all you thrill seekers.
