Good hiking is available along the Laurel Fork Trail; close by you stumble on fine places like Goodwin Field Gap. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Sugar Mountain, and camping at Laurel Creek Lodge is always a delightful experience. Doe River is a splendid whitewater spot right next door to Odom Trout Lake, and some of the water close by flows, like Bunton Branch.       Why not stop at Odom Trout Lake Dam while you're here, and Americourt Hotel-Mountain City is a great place to get some rest. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing things the area next to Odom Trout Lake has to offer. Head up to Hawksnest and strap some skis to your feet, and after a long day outdoors Beech Mountain Inns is a perfect place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Odom Trout Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than                  a day at, Dennis Cove Campground is a wonderful local campground. At Odom Trout Lake throughout the warm months highs are in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 60's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Odom Trout Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Doe River - Laurel Fork, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Odom Trout Lake; Little Pond Mountain Trail is a fine local trail.
