Tennessee has many beautiful lakes and Moffett Pond is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Americourt Hotel-Mountain City is a brilliant spot to spend a night or two, and Big Spring is always fun to check out. Going for a hike on the Stone Mountain Trail is always a perfect adventure; while you're here you can play some golf at Elizabethton Golf Course. Moffett Pond is not the only place close by, Underwood Park Lake is a close

Man, is there a heap of amusing things to do close to Moffett Pond. There are brilliant places to discover along the Old Dug Trail; if you're going to from Johnson City, you won't be the only one. Through the summertime at Moffett Pond highs are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. All through the winter this place
gets highs in the 40's while Moffett Pond overnight low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. A lake close by is Hall Lake, and float down the rapids of Doe River in a kayak. If only every spot had this much outdoors
cool stuff, what a great planet it would be. There's so much to do here at Moffett Pond that you need to camp here for a while, River Ridge Campground is a perfect location for that.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp
Grandview Ranch Rv Park is a perfect place to do that, and you can go for a hike on the Stamping Ground Trail. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Watauga; Caney Hollow is another tremendous place to have a look at nearby.

| ...also for some reason (mistaken or purposely) referred by some North Carolina-based rafting companies to their customers as the 'Anaconda Rapids' - if you are not aware of this fact, you may end up paying significantly more for a rafting trip on this section of the Watauga River. The Tennessee Valley Authority releases the seasonally scheduled impounded resevoir water from the TVA Wilbur Dam at approximately 1:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday (the main input is just below Wilbur Dam and southeast of Elizabethton, Tennessee). This section of the Watauga River that flows through Elizabethton (Carter County) and is a popular commercial destination for both commercial rafting and fishing float tour companies from both eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina choosing to run this section of the Watauga River as many naturally flowing rivers in this Northeast Tennessee region (such as the Nolichucky River in Unicoi County, Tennessee ) are very dependent upon regular rainfall during the hot summer months. Red Fork Falls Trail
| Yes, it is dangerous, I have fallen and slid all the way to one of the small pools after the falls....Hike is very short and falls are very beautiful… You can also camp close the parking area if you want to....my parents took me to red fork falls last weekend. it is beautiful. it is a short hike and very easy to get to. the only problem is the trail brings you out at the top of the falls instead of the bottom. you have to be very careful because the rocks are so slippery. my dad said he knew several people who had fallen from the top and 2 of them had actually died. so be very careful.... |

Love the lake have camped and boated 3 yrs now here. Love it. It's deep and clean. Hate they drop the water so low and so earily in the year tho. Hard for boats to get in and have to go to other places. Love the islands to stop and cook out and swim. It's amazing out there. I'm hooked on Holston lake..~{... |
