Beautiful Laxton Lake has much to offer visitors. You completely have to like the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Best Western South Fork Inn is a fine spot to get some rest, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Laxton Lake; Racoon Loop is a good local trail. At Laxton Lake through the summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is quite colder of course, regularly in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Laxton Lake nighttime

| | low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. If time allows, Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area is a national park worth taking a look at; the Deer Loop offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. Laxton Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Charit Creek Campground is a fine local campground, and pleasant hiking is available along the Laurel Creek Trail. at Laxton Lake. After a long day outdoors River Gate Inn and Chapel is a tremendous location to spend a night or two, and Oneida Golf & Country Club is a tremendous golf course close by. Man, is there plenty of entertaining things
to do in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. There are some good whitewater spots on Roaring Paunch River, and while you're here, you could also pop by lovely Brown Pond. The high level of rainfall makes Laxton Lake a reasonably wet
place; through March this area sees the most rain, and October is the month with the least moisture. There's some exciting stuff to spot at Laxton Lake Dam in close proximity to Laxton Lake, and some nearby water includes Brown Branch.
This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit New River, and if you came to camp Bandy Creek Campground is a brilliant location to do that. Laxton Lake is one of the lakes here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains.
