    Laurel Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. For the period of the summer months at Laurel Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows drop down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Laurel Lake temperatures plunge to the 20's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Blackburn Fork; the scenery at Laurel Lake  
   Dam is charming. Laurel Lake is a wet location that gets much rain; the month with most of the rain is December, and the driest of the months is October.
Man, is there loads of exciting stuff to do near Laurel Lake. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Gordonsville is a great place to spend a night or two, and not far from Laurel Lake you'll hit upon Center Hill Lake which is a delightful lake. This lake is so wonderful. There are some perfect whitewater
 
               spots on Pine Creek, and if you need a place to stay Key West Inn Cookeville is a glorious choice.
Camping at Defeated Creek Campground is always a splendid experience, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Jersey Miniery Zinc Company Lake. Laurel Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Maple Grove Campground is a great local campground, and a splendid spot to stop at is Blair Hollow.
