Burkey Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; May is when you get the most rain here while October is regularly the driest month. Don't forget to take a wonderful little tour to Crazy Creek, and General Morgan Inn & Conference Center is a brilliant spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Burkey Pond is a location with many visitors from Greeneville, and the Tweed       Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. A lake close by is Tom Austin Lake, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Trail of the Lonesome Pine. Dry warm beds await you at Greeneville-Days Inn, and camping at The Oaks Retreat Center is always a nice experience. Whitewater paddling is good on French Broad, and playing golf is lots of fun at Andrew Johnson Golf Club. This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Big Laurel                  Creek. A fine location to camp here at Burkey Pond is McMillian Catfish Farms Owned by Ryan and Pamela Crick, naturally you could also go to Combs Pond if you're here; it's not far at all. High temperatures at Burkey Pond during the days of summer are in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's.
