The beauty of Boone Lake attracts many people from all around. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious close by hotel is Red Carpet Inn Kingsport; get yourself into a kayak and hit Watauga. At Boone Lake during the long summer days highs are in the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Boone Lake. If you come at the right time of year, Big Moccasin Creek offers some

| | great whitewater, and a golf course nearby is Crockett's Ridge Golf Club. And that's not all you can do here at Boone Lake. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Old Dug Trail; Boone Lake is right by the Patty Ridge Trail. month is October. Buzzard Cliff is a perfect place to take a look at while in the region, and a tremendous place to camp here at Boone Lake is Rocky Top Campground. Lots of people from Kingsport-Bristol come to Boone Lake, and
if you're here, you could also go to scenic Sampson-Wood Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Do explore Halls Mill Pond in the vicinity of Boone Lake, it's a delightful lake, and Shannon Knob is clearly visible from Boone Lake. The
Pinnacle Tower Trail offers hiking at its best, and Boone Dam is not far at all from Boone Lake. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the area in the vicinity of Boone Lake has to offer. Dunlap Hollow is a
good site to visit close by; Boone Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Bristol-kingsport Koa Kampground is a good local campground.

Tent decks are nestled in the woods. Each has picnic tables, charcoal grill and a fire pit. Water, electric and porta pots are in the main area.
Rocky Top offers all the amenities from a country store, game room, playground, dog run and a very clean bath house. It's a quiet, relaxing atmosphere.

 | 11 miles away ...n this section of the Watauga River as many naturally flowing rivers in this Northeast Tennessee region (such as the Nolichucky River in Unicoi County, Tennessee ) are very dependent upon regular rainfall during the hot summer months. There is limited parking available at the one TVA parking lot by the putin entrance and at the at the Carter County owned putin itself. The water temperature of the Watauga River is around 52 degrees F. The main take-out used by locals (private and commercial) is found approximately two hours (seven miles) from Wilbur Dam at the Elizabethton Linear Trail Park in the Blackbottom community, while some North Carolina companies take out at a city industrial park just minutes below the Hunter Bridge (approximately one hour downstream of the TVA Wilbur Dam), and if you have the time you could float down to other lesser used takeouts at Sycamore Shoals State Park (however, park vehicles at the city owned Franklin Pool parking lot if putting in at Wilbur Dam during the late afternoon hours).
