This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Stay the night at Echo Valley Park, and don't leave Ward Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Sunday Gulch Trail. Just can't get enough of the Black Hills. A great nearby hotel is State Game Lodge VA, and there's good hiking along the Lost Cabin Trail. And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Black       Hills. Ward Reservoir is not the only place close by, Ventling Reservoir is a close by lake. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Legion Lake Lodge VA is a splendid site to spend a night or two, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Ward Reservoir; Paha Sapa Trail is a nice local trail. A trip to Jewel Cave National Monument is recommended, and the scenery at McClure Dam is lovely. Not much rain falls here at Ward Reservoir; the month                  of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime highs at Ward Reservoir ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. All through the winter highs are generally in the 30's while Ward Reservoir nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. Ward Reservoir is one of the lakes here in the Black Hills.
