If you are traveling by, why not stop by Ward Reservoir. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Stay the night at Echo Valley Park, and don't leave Ward Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Sunday Gulch Trail. Just can't get enough of the Black Hills. A great nearby hotel is State Game Lodge VA, and there's good hiking along the Lost Cabin Trail. And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Black

| | Hills. Ward Reservoir is not the only place close by, Ventling Reservoir is a close by lake. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Legion Lake Lodge VA is a splendid site to spend a night or two, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Ward Reservoir; Paha Sapa Trail is a nice local trail. of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime highs at Ward Reservoir ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. All through the winter
highs are generally in the 30's while Ward Reservoir nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 0's. Ward Reservoir is one of the lakes here in the Black Hills. You could also have a look at Lake of the Pines while
you're here at Ward Reservoir; it's nearby, and Custer's Gulch RV Park and Campground is a good campground nearby.

 | Nice facility. Friendly, helpful staff. We just returned from 3 nights of tent-camping there. Only complaint- 16 hwy was a bit more active at night than we would hope. Again, in a tent, you hear it all. Didn't realize the alternate bathhouse was the one with all the remodel until our last day-very nice!!!!!... |
