For the duration of the months of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Thompson Reservoir, and the nighttime is rather cooler of course, mostly in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Thompson Reservoir descend into the 10's. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. Dry warm beds await you       at Quail's Crossing Resort, and beautiful scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Terry Peak. This lake is so wonderful. All our national parks are perfect sites to stop at, and Jewel Cave National Monument is no exception, and Thompson Reservoir is right by the Rapid Creek Trail. So many fun things in the Black Hills, just astonishing. Little Thompson Draw is a great spot to take a look at nearby, and going for a hike along the Lost Cabin Trail                  will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Black Hills. If you need a location to stay Pine Rest Cabins is a great choice; Thompson Reservoir is a good place to camp, Horse Thief Campground is a good place. Camping at Thompson Reservoir is fine fun, Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort is a fine local campground, and hiking along the Sunday Gulch Trail is good fun. Thompson Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Black Hills.
