The Black Hills scenery is always beautiful. High temperatures at Thompson Reservoir through the long summer days are in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Thompson Reservoir dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. All year is a great time in the Black Hills if you fancy the outdoors. Rafter J       Bar Ranch Camping Resort is a delightful local campground; if you need a site to stay Comfort Inn Hill City is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Horse Thief Campground is a perfect campground nearby; Jewel Cave National Monument is one of the destinations that are great to have a look at nearby. A lake close by is Major Lake, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Lost Cabin                  Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Head up to Terry Peak and strap some skis to your feet, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Rapid Creek Trail. Thompson Reservoir gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. So much cool stuff to do here in the Black Hills, too great to be true. Reno Gulch Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could go to, and the Sunday Gulch Trail is a perfect hiking trail close by.
