Hiking along the Lost Cabin Trail is tremendous fun, and since you're here, you could also explore picturesque Major Lake. That right there is plenty already, but it goes on; Thompson Reservoir has it all. A great place to camp here at Thompson Reservoir is Horse Thief Campground, and why not       take a refreshing hike along the Rapid Creek Trail. Yeah, come up here to the Black Hills for a wonderful time. Little Thompson Draw is near Thompson Reservoir and is a fine location, and Terry Peak is a very popular ski area in close proximity. The annual precipitation here at Thompson Reservoir is about average; May is when you get the most rain here; January is the month with the least moisture. Thompson Reservoir is located in the Black Hills.                  All the outdoors exciting things in the Black Hills will keep you coming back persistently. Don't miss out on a visit to Jewel Cave National Monument since you're here at Thompson Reservoir; camping at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort is always a nice experience. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime highs at Thompson Reservoir mostly tend to be in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Thompson Reservoir dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful.
