In South Dakota there are many beautiful lakes, Slaughter Reservoir is one of them. Getting to South Branch Grummit Canyon Creek from Slaughter Reservoir is uncomplicated; on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Beaver Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Do go to Havens Reservoir close to Slaughter Reservoir, it's a pretty lake, and there is a brilliant hiking trail nearby called the Big Hill Ski Trail. Wyatt's Hideaway Campground is a splendid local

| | campground, and Terry Peak is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood. Man, is there loads of cool things to do near Slaughter Reservoir. AmericInn Belle Fourche is a brilliant place to get some rest; Spearfish Creek is a great whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. gets highs in the 30's, and night lows at Slaughter Reservoir through the winter generally descend into the 10's. Slaughter Reservoir is typically a rather waterless location; the wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is January.
