Getting to South Branch Grummit Canyon Creek from Slaughter Reservoir is uncomplicated; on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Beaver Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Do go to Havens Reservoir close to Slaughter Reservoir, it's a pretty lake, and there is a brilliant hiking trail nearby called the Big Hill Ski Trail. Wyatt's Hideaway Campground is a splendid local       campground, and Terry Peak is a very popular ski area in the neighborhood. Man, is there loads of cool things to do near Slaughter Reservoir. AmericInn Belle Fourche is a brilliant place to get some rest; Spearfish Creek is a great whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent close by hotel is SUPER 8 MOTEL - BELLE FOURCHE, and the Bear Gulch Trail is a fine hiking trail nearby. The Playground Campground is a great campground                  nearby, and you'll find a scenic lake called Oak Creek Reservoir. High temperatures at Slaughter Reservoir through the summer are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows at Slaughter Reservoir through the winter generally descend into the 10's.
