There's good hiking along the Pettigrew Trail; if you need a spot to stay Legion Lake Lodge VA is a fine choice. This lake is so wonderful. Preacher Spring is a glorious local attraction, and there are other locations here than Mud Lake, for example Boggy Reservoir. Mud Lake is located in the Black Hills. So much enjoyable stuff to do in the Black Hills, not enough time. Throughout       the long summer days highs here at Mud Lake get into the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Mud Lake fall into the 0's. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Mud Lake. Don't leave Mud Lake without first going for a hike along the Rim Rock Trail. Lakes? Sure, Duck Lake is around here. Camping is available at Moon Campground;                  great hiking is available along the Iron Creek Trail. This spot, the Black Hills, has so much outdoors fun stuff. Camping at Redbank Spring Campground is always a wonderful experience, and after a long day outdoors Fountain Inn is a great spot to spend a night or two.
