If you are in Lawrence county it's always a good idea to stop by Mud Lake. What would winter be without some skiing at Terry Peak, and there is a magnificent hiking trail nearby called the Beaver Ridge Trail. Through the summer months at Mud Lake temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Mud Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. Be careful

After a long day outdoors Spearfish-Days Inn is a splendid place to spend a night or two, and if you've had enough of Mud Lake, Murray Lake is nearby. Bear Gulch Trail is always a great adventure, and a perfect close by hotel is Spearfish Travelodge. Mud Lake gets very little rain; through the month of June you get the most rain around here; January is when it's the driest.
This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Spearfish here. This lake is so wonderful. Mud Lake is a wonderful place to visit for more than one day, Spearfish Koa Kampground is a wonderful place to camp nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Big Hill Ski Trail.
