And if that's not sufficient, there's plenty more to do in the vicinity of Mud Lake. Crow Creek is a pleasant local stream; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Bear Gulch Trail. Mud Lake is a location that is rather dry generally; June is       when you get the most rain here, and January is when it's the driest. While you're here at Mud Lake you can take a hike along the Beaver Ridge Trail. Stay the night at Iron Creek Lake; a great close by hotel is Spearfish-Days Inn. Through the summer months, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Mud Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's with temperatures at Mud Lake                  dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. Mud Lake is a place with many visitors from Spearfish. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Spearfish Koa Kampground is a magnificent place for that. This lake is so wonderful.
