Don't leave Horse Thief Lake without first going for a hike along the Blackberry Trail, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Four Presidents Lodge is a magnificent location to spend a night or two. Man, is there heaps of cool stuff to do in the vicinity of Horse Thief Lake. There are great sites to look at along the Willow Creek - Rushmore Trail; camping at Miner's Motel and RV Park is always a delightful       experience. Dry warm beds await you at First Lady Inn, and Horse Thief Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Kemp's Kamp is a nice local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of folks from Spearfish come to Horse Thief Lake. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Black Hills. Grizzly Bear Falls is an inspiring location to go to while you're here, and if you have time to spare, Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a national park                  worth going to. This lake is one of the great places here in the Black Hills. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Black Hills. There's some interesting stuff to observe at Horse Thief Lake Dam in the vicinity of Horse Thief Lake, and of course Pine Creek is a pretty stream that is worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Horse Thief Lake Trail is always a good adventure, and Hardesty Peak can be spotted from Horse Thief Lake. Summertime highs at Horse Thief Lake typically tend to be in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Horse Thief Lake are in the 0's.
