Do stop by Cox Lake while you're in this part of South Dakota. All through the summertime months at Cox Lake temperatures are commonly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Cox Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. | | and January is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Cox Lake is not far at all from Spearfish. There's so much to do here at Cox Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Iron Creek Lake is a great place for that; a brilliant close by hotel is Spearfish Travelodge. Ski Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and there are other spots here than Cox Lake, for example Mud Lake. Cox Lake is right by the Beaver Ridge Trail; Cox Lake is great enough to spend more than a day
at, Spearfish Koa Kampground is a great local campground. Be careful coming to Cox Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Spearfish Creek,
and after a long day outdoors Spearfish-Days Inn is a wonderful site to spend a night or two. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Terry Peak, and lakes are such calm places, why not pop by Murray Lake.
