    Wienges Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Wienges Lake gets much water; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and October is when it's the driest. Lakes are such serene spots, why not visit Whetstone Pond near Wienges Lake, and lots of folks from Orangeburg come here. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. If you need a place to stay Fairfield Inn By Marriott Orangeburg is  
   a wonderful choice, and a delightful place to camp here at Wienges Lake is Wheat water Lake Campground.
This lake is so wonderful. A pretty lake like Sykes Pond in close proximity to Wienges Lake is a great location to check out; dropping by Congaree Swamp National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Summertime highs at Wienges Lake commonly tend to be in the 90's while overnight lows are regularly in the 70's. All through the winter
 
               highs are typically in the 50's, and overnight lows at Wienges Lake throughout the winter usually descend into the 30's. Take a side tour to Antley Spring Branch, and Wienges Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Mountaineer Motel is a perfect local campground.
A perfect nearby hotel is Sleep Inn Orangeburg; enjoy a round of golf at Calhoun Country Club.

...ny years over a hundred years ago at Cattle Creek Camp Grounds.
These tents still have dirt floors where fresh hay straw is spread for the week or so each year. They are two-story structures which resemble small barns for animals on Southern farms more than they look like a typical tent. I suppose those first camp grounds over a hundred years ago started out with a form of a canvas tent, but I am not sure of that being the reason for the still used name of tent for the structure.
Marley and Heeley also inherited their love of the camp ground week at Cattle Creek from their Ott family. Their father Clifton always sets up the facilities at the Ott Tent the weekend prior to the meeting by taking the refridgerator, and bedding, and other items out there.
The Cattle Creek Camp Grounds has begun in recent years to use electricity and indoor plumbing which was not available in the good old days, but down at Indian Fields Camp Ground nearby, they still forbid electricity and indoor plumbing.
