What a nice lake Slade Lake is. Hiking along the Horn Creek Hiking Trail is wonderful fun, and if you need a location to stay Guesthouse Intl Aiken is a good choice. Paddling on Savannah River is so much fun, and you can have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the vicinity of Slade Lake. There are other places here than Slade Lake, for example Reynolds Pond; Forks Campground is a great

| | local campground. During your spree to Slade Lake you'll meet some people from Augusta-Richmond County for sure; dry warm beds await you at Sleep Inn North Augusta. Slade Lake is a rather wet place commonly with a great deal of rain; most of the rain falls all through March, and November meanwhile is the driest month. Not far from Slade Lake, you'll stumble on Odell Memorial Lake which is a pretty lake. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Slade Lake. | |

Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 50's; night lows during the wintertime for Slade Lake tend to be in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful.
Glide down the rapids of Stevens Creek in a kayak, and if you came for an overnight stay Lick Fork Campground is a magnificent place to camp.

 | 17 miles away There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
