This is a splendid region for folks who like lakes. Silver Lake is a lake close at hand, and a great nearby hotel is Jameson Inn Duncan. After a long day outdoors Microtel Inn Spartanburg/Duncan is a tremendous location to spend a night or two. The high level of precipitation makes Silver Lake a pretty wet site; March is when you get the most rain here; April on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Silver

you can always explore close by Shoals Lake; don't leave Silver Lake without first paying a visit to Berry Shoals. Stay the night at Cunningham RV Park, and whitewater paddling is great on Middle Tyger River. This lake is so wonderful.
Take a little tour to Powder Branch since you're here at Silver Lake; Silver Lake is not far at all from Spartanburg.

Lake Cunningham
12 miles away How is the fishing on Lake Cunningham?...Lake Cunningham is 360+ acres and is the take-out point for Greer's water supply. Boating is allowed but no more than 5HP motors. Swimming is discouraged. It's a very pretty lake with a wildfowl sancuary at its western edge....
North Tyger River
13 miles away ...ight after Nesbitt Shoals, just after confluence of North and South Tyger (you know it's close after a large S-turn in the river) Take out either river left, or right AFTER the bridge-lots of 'No Trespassing' signs before the bridge. Shuttle is about 6 hilly miles. Mostly quiet, with some scrapes below 1' on gauge. There are some fun little rapids: First one take dead center. Third one with a nice slot river-left of center rock formation but you need some water. You can also go river right with a hard slide/small hydraulic back towards the center-then drag back up and run it again. There is a nice tiny play spot river-left about 2/3 into the run. My favorite is a series of small drops about 3/4 into the trip: fun run of about 50 yds-at low water, need to make some turns, watch your angles-small island bisects river-take just left-of-center line and pick your way down on the left. Sneaky little rapid river-left just before bridge can catch you if you are not watching-pick your way river-left after most of Nesbitt Shoals are completed and take the rapid to the right, boat angled r...

The Flowermill RV Park
15 miles away we came from california and have stayed at many different campgrounds. This is by far, the best we have found. Just perfect.... We plan on being here a long time. ...Bought by Susan and Steve Suber in 1997, the Flowermill RV. campground is in Taylors, SC. It's proximity to The Mountains and surrounding lakes makes it a perfect place to stay. The park is right next to the Enoree river on land that was once used as a mill. The old structure still exists as does the dam that provided its power. With its sandy beach and beautiful waterfall, I cant think of a better place to relax and let the sounds of nature wash the stress away. The owners couldn't have been nicer or more informative. A pure delight...
