What a nice lake Shimmys Pond is. You'll meet a lot of folks from Columbia here; hey, Crane Creek is a good local stream. Shimmys Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily March, that's the one that rains the most while November is commonly the driest month. If you came for an overnight stay Capital City Campground is a tremendous site to camp, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Broad River.

Columbia Reservoir is a lake in the neighborhood, and dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn Columbia. The views at Congaree Swamp National Monument will blow your mind; if you need a place to stay Ramada Plazas, Limiteds, And Inns is a wonderful choice.
