South Carolina has many beautiful lakes and Ramsey Pond is one of them. Good hiking is available along the Bartram Trail; Harper Pond is a nearby lake that you could have a look at. Some of the water close by flows, like Walton Creek, and Toccoa Rv Park & Campground is a nice campground nearby. | | thing to do around Ramsey Pond; Burrells Ford Trail is a delightful local trail; an afternoon playing golf at Toccoa City Golf Course is always a delight. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Ramsey Pond, you could also explore beautiful Hughes Lake, and Toccoa Days Inn is a great location to get some rest. offers some magnificent whitewater. So much cool stuff to do at Ramsey Pond, so little time. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Brasstown Creek, and Ramsey Pond is a good location to visit
for more than one day, Sunset Campground is a good location to camp nearby. Ramsey Pond is a wet place that gets a lot of rain; the month with most of the rain is March, and the driest month is October. Summertime highs at Ramsey
Pond mostly tend to be in the 80's; the night is quite cooler of course, usually in the 60's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Ramsey Pond.

 | ...of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings. Over the years sport fishing has been excellent with large mouth Bass, Crappie, Brem, Pike And Catfish, however fishing is limited due to private ownership of property including the lake basin. The shorelines and surounding hills are populated with native hardwoods and pine, creating scenery which is unsurpassed in the area. I have several dozen that are dated Easter Sunday, 1945 (April 1st).? I have being attempting determine the location where these pics were taken.? The only thing grandmother can remember is a name:? Panther Creek Park.? She thought it was somewhere around Corniela.? I found this web page while doing a search for it.? I have included some pics.? The most obvious feature in a lot of this photos is a round brick object that people seemed to spend a lot of time lounging around.? I don't know what to actually call it.? Is this the right park??... |
