Get yourself into a kayak and hit North Saluda River, and you can take a little trip to Chinquapin Lake Dam since you're here at Poplar Lake. At Poplar Lake during the summertime highs are in the 80's; the overnight is fairly colder of course, generally in the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Poplar Lake. If you need a place to stay       Travelers Motel is a good choice, and camping at Dogwood Travel Trailer Park is always a pleasant experience. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff close to Poplar Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Hampton Inn, and Allen Knob is easy to spot from Poplar Lake. Poplar Lake is a quite wet place mostly with a good deal of rain; most of the rain falls throughout August, and April is when it's the driest. Not far from Poplar Lake, you'll locate Chinquapin                  Lake which is a lovely lake, and of course Short Branch is a beautiful stream that is worth taking a look at. This lake is so wonderful.
