  Near Phillips Lake is a fine 1.5-mile-long run of whitewater on South Saluda River, a class III-IV(V), this is the Blyth Shoals - Highway 11 to Talley Bridge segment. This segment of South Saluda River is appropriate for whitewater boaters who have been whitewater rafting or kayaking for a while. The 1.5-mile-from-beginning-to-end Oilcamp Road section is a type I-III(IV) section of whitewater on Oilcamp creek. Raft paddlers on this part of Oilcamp creek should
    possess some knowledge in whitewater kayaking or rafting. Of course, whitewater kayaking or rafting is amusing but hazardous; check conditions prior to departure.
