    A visit to Owens Pond is always a good idea. At Owens Pond throughout the warm months highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 70's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and nighttime lows at Owens Pond through the wintertime typically descend into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Fairfield Inn By Marriott Orangeburg, and Owens Pond is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Mountaineer Motel  
   is a wonderful local campground. You could also pop by Gramling Pond while you're here at Owens Pond; it's nearby, and Hillcrest Golf Course is a golf course nearby.
All the outdoors exciting things near Owens Pond will keep you coming back over and over. A lake close by is Farly Road Reservoir; during your spree here you'll meet some people from Orangeburg for sure. Lots of rain falls at Owens Pond; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest
 
               of the months is October.
Orangeburg - Days Inn South is a good spot to get some rest, and a great location to camp here at Owens Pond is Cattle Creek Campground.

...pa Semme was the brother who attended the most of these old-time religion meetings over a greater number of years. Mazie's Grandpa Johnson was also the Johnson brother who passed on his love of the outdoors to his greater family. Not only his sons, but those of Johnny's depended on learning the great Southern sports of hunting and fishing and exploring the wonderful Southland's outdoor wonders.
Carlisle, Nook, Bud, and other Johnson boys would frequently visit with their Uncle Semme to join in with the many hunts and fishing trips on the South Edisto, because their father Johnny was the more studious of the two -- he loved his reading and the more indoor activities of a scholar.
The fishing stories of Odell and Mary which have been told in the Johnson Family Newsletter are evidence of the love of the outdoors which was passed down to the family from Grandpa Semme.
