Whitewater paddling is delightful on Broad River, and perfect water scenery is available at Lake Trotwood Dam in the vicinity of Old Heises Pond. Old Heises Pond gets lots of water; March is the month that gets the most rain, and November is when it's the driest. So many cool things to do at Old Heises Pond, so little time. Stay the night at Sesquicentennial State Park; if you're here you will meet lots of folks       from close by Columbia. Fort Jackson Guest House is a good place to get some rest, and Sedgewood Country Club is a golf course nearby. Congaree Swamp National Monument is a delightful location near Old Heises Pond; do visit Captain Jims Pond, it's a pretty lake. This lake is so wonderful.
