    In South Carolina there are many beautiful lakes, Ocains Pond is one of them. Lots of rain falls at Ocains Pond; July is the wettest month with most rain while October is frequently the driest month. Ocains Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Wheat water Lake Campground is a great local campground; don't forget to take a nice little visit to Early Branch.

   a round of golf at Hillcrest Golf Course not far from Ocains Pond, and a spree to Congaree Swamp National Monument is recommended. Nearby lakes? Sure, Wannamaker Catfish Ponds is near Ocains Pond, and a splendid nearby hotel is Comfort Inn & Suites. This is a pleasant neighborhood for people who like lakes. Shecuts Pond is a lake nearby; if you need a place to stay Howard Johnson Express Inn is a glorious choice.
Summer at Ocains Pond arrives with high temperatures
 
               in the 90's, and the night is fairly colder of course, usually in the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's while Ocains Pond overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Mountaineer Motel is always a tremendous experience; lots of folks from Orangeburg come here.

These tents still have dirt floors where fresh hay straw is spread for the week or so each year. They are two-story structures which resemble small barns for animals on Southern farms more than they look like a typical tent. I suppose those first camp grounds over a hundred years ago started out with a form of a canvas tent, but I am not sure of that being the reason for the still used name of tent for the structure.
Marley and Heeley also inherited their love of the camp ground week at Cattle Creek from their Ott family. Their father Clifton always sets up the facilities at the Ott Tent the weekend prior to the meeting by taking the refridgerator, and bedding, and other items out there.
The Cattle Creek Camp Grounds has begun in recent years to use electricity and indoor plumbing which was not available in the good old days, but down at Indian Fields Camp Ground nearby, they still forbid electricity and indoor plumbing.
The brothers Semme and Johnny Johnson didn't have a choice during their times of enjoying the spiritualy gatherings ...
