The beauty of Mountain Lake is reason enough to stop by. There is a delightful hiking trail right next door to Mountain Lake called the Black Mountain Trail, and Dowthit Cove is close at hand, and is a delightful spot. The summit of Bald Rock can be seen from Mountain Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Matthews Creek. Near Mountain Lake you locate the Laurel Mountain Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Solitude

Lake get into the 80's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Mountain Lake temperatures dip to the 20's.
