Nasty Branch is in the neighborhood of Mathis Pond and is always a joy to have a look at; Mathis Pond is not far at all from Sumter. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Mathis Pond you can play some golf at Sumter National Golf Club; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Cain Millpond. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this spot. If you need a place to stay Best       Western Sumter Inn is a delightful choice, and why not camp at Elliott's Landing and Campground since you're here at Mathis Pond. A brilliant close by hotel is Ramada Inn, and camping is available at Poinsett state Park. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Mathis Pond, and the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, frequently in the 60's.
