     After a long day outdoors Gaffney Red Roof Inn is a wonderful place to spend a night or two; camping at Croft state Natural Area is always a good experience. Martin Lake is a wet place that gets a good deal of rainfall; throughout March this area sees the most rain, and April on the other hand is the driest. Martin Lake in fact is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. During your visit to Martin Lake you'll meet some folks from Gaffney for sure. Lakes?  
   Sure, Hammett Lake is nearby.
There are some great whitewater spots on Lawsons Fork Creek; if you came to camp Pinecone Campground is a magnificent site to do that. Goucher Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express GAFFNEY OUTLET MALL I-85. Throughout the long summer days here at Martin Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and the nighttime is a bit cooler of course, generally
 
               in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Martin Lake temperatures plunge to the 20's.
This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Broad River; there are other spots here than Martin Lake, for example Hammett Lake.

Pinecone Campground
When we stayed at Pinecone Campground we had a very great time. Even though we read some not-so-good reviews, we had lots of fun. The childern enjoyed the pool and the golf carts and even the teenagers that were there had fun. It is a good family invironment and a good place to go and relax. We havee stayed there since and we will continue to go back. We camped in tents....
