Sleep Inn & Suites is a splendid spot to get some rest; close by you locate the Horn Creek Hiking Trail which is a fine hiking trail. Get your heart beating on the nice whitewater of Savannah River, and after a long day outdoors Augusta Budget Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. Going for a hike on the Turkey Creek Hiking Trail is always a brilliant adventure. All through the long summer days highs here at Laurel Lake get into the 90's. Once the

| | sun is down it plunges down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Laurel Lake descend into the 30's. If you came for an overnight stay Betty's RV and Trailer Court is a glorious place to camp, and Laurel Lake is not far at all from Augusta-Richmond County. spot to visit. Laurel Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is when you get the most rain here while November is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

 | 11 miles away There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
