The beauty of Lake Katherine is reason enough to stop by. If time allows, Congaree Swamp National Monument is a national park worth checking out, and a delightful spot to camp here at Lake Katherine is Sesquicentennial State Park. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Broad River; Lake Katherine Dam is wonderful.

The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's with temperatures at Lake Katherine dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Rodeway Inn & Suites is a perfect spot to get some rest, and whitewater paddling is perfect on Saluda River. All the outdoors amusing things in the neighborhood of Lake Katherine will
keep you coming back again and again. There are other places here than Lake Katherine, for example Twin Lakes; camping is available at Capital City Campground. A splendid close by hotel is Econo Lodge Columbia, and Old Heises Pond is a delightful lake nearby.
