Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Broad River, and Lake Callwell is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Woodland Park Campground is a magnificent local campground. Lake Callwell gets a lot of water; the wettest month of the year is mostly March, that's the one that rains the most, and April on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Royal       Inn is a great site to spend a night or two, and for you golfers we recommend close by Spring Lake Country Club. Ross Branch is a lovely stream that is worth going to, and Kings Branch has a glorious whitewater paddling spot close by. Just can't get enough of Lake Callwell. A good location to camp here at Lake Callwell is Girl Scout Camp Catawbaw. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Lake Callwell while overnight lows are mostly in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime                  this place gets highs in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Lake Callwell.
