If you want a wonderful time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Hughes Pond. If you came for an overnight stay Capital City Campground is a magnificent spot to camp, and during your spree here you'll meet some folks from Columbia for sure. If you come at the right time of year, Saluda River offers some tremendous whitewater, and camping is available at Bethel Campground. Summer brings       highs in the 90's to Hughes Pond. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Hughes Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Congaree Swamp National Monument is a magnificent national park, and Marina Inn at Grande Dunes is a glorious place to get some rest. Hughes Pond sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is March; the driest                  month is November.
