     Holly Pond is a nice lake to visit. Not far from Holly Pond, you'll find Green Pond which is a lovely lake; you're sure to bump into some great folks from Orangeburg here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Holly Pond a wet spot; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily July, that's the one that rains the most, and October meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Mountaineer Motel is a delightful local campground; needless to  
   say, all our national parks are glorious locations to have a look at and Congaree Swamp National Monument is no exception.
Dry warm beds await you at Sleep Inn Orangeburg, and there are other spots here than Holly Pond, for example Bobby Gressett Pond. Yeah, come here to Holly Pond for a brilliant time. While you're here at Holly Pond you can play some golf at Calhoun Country Club. During the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 90's at Holly Pond,
 
               and the night is a bit cooler of course, generally in the 70's. Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 50's; overnight lows in the 30's for Holly Pond.

...nts call the Country Club which is located on the South Edisto River near the old Binnickers Bridge (now known as the Judge Ness Bridge) began as a Methodist Church Camp Ground. Then it gradually lost its appeal to the Methodist folks as a place for weeks long religious retreats and it evolved into a place of escape during Bamberg County's very hot summer months for residents in Denmark before the advent of modern air-conditioning.
It has been told to Mazie over the years that both her Grandfather Lawrence Semme Johnson and his brother Johnny Johnson greatly enjoyed these Church Camp Meetings and were known to travel most anywhere in the state for such gatherings. I am sure that they would take their families to the ones nearby, but would travel in their buggies or wagons alone to the far reaches of South Carolina.
And it further is told that Grandpa Semme was the brother who attended the most of these old-time religion meetings over a greater number of years. Mazie's Grandpa Johnson was also the Johnson brother who passed on his love of the outdoors to his greater family. Not ...
