LISA HAYES: I Grew Up Most Of My Life On Hayes Pond. My Father Had Inherited It From His Grandfather. When We Would Go Fishing. The #1 Rule Was To Always Throw The Largemouth Bass Back In. This Was Even Told To The Lawyers And Judges Of The Time Whom My Father Would Entertain. It Was A Wonderful Place To Have Been Privilaged To Experience. Father Had A Great Love Of Fishing And He Had A Few Other Smaller Ponds That He Would Cultivate In Different Ways. For Instance He Had A Small Pond As You Entered The Property From The Dam Entrance And We Called It The Frog Gigging Pond Because It Grew The Biggest Tadpoles Which Eventually Turned Into Monster Bullfrogs. Then He Had A Little Larger Pond Beside The Old House That My Great Grandfather Judge Ioor Hayes Had Built With His Son James Cline. Well This Pond Beside The House Was Used To Hold Large Cats That He Would Release Into The Large Pond. He Would Always Be Careful About How Many. And When He Would Release Them He Was Always Watching The Balance Of Their Environment. Then If You Took A Little Ride Around The Back Curve Of The Road Behind The House You Would Come Upon A Really Nice Bream Pond To The Left. Now You Could Say You Were Really In For A Treat If You Were Allowed To Fish There .... Guest Included Because They Were Huge!!!! If You Went On About 100Ft Or So On The Right My Father Had Built On His Own Some Catfish Hatching Ponds. I Wasn'T Too Awful Fond Of These Ponds Because They Meant Work And If You Know Anything About Fertilising And Feeding Then You Know What I Mean. But Don'T Get Me Wrong I Would Love Coming Up To The Pond After School With My Brother And Help Father Feed The Big Slabs Of Fish Food. Even At A Young Age I Wondered Why He Was Doing This Because The Pond Was Sooooo Large, So Out Of Curiosity I Asked And He Told Me We Could Never Give Them Enough Food To Feed And Sustain Them But It Was His Way Of Letting The Fish Know How Much He Loved Them For Being Such A Blessing To All Who Came To Fish In His Pond.
I Have Many Fond Memories Of My Life There And To This Day My Heart Is Very Sad And It Yearns To Be Back Home. Maybe One Day.... There Is Only One Problem And It Is This.... My Parents Taught Me Manners And It Wouldn'T Be Proper To Invite Myself. God Willing Just Maybe That Invitation Will Come. There Is One Other Thing That Saddens Me And That Is Father Has Passed Away Now And He Had Wanted To Fish There One Last Time But The Invitation Never Came. Just Know That We Can All Enjoy The Fruits Of His Loving Labor Because Of His Love For The Sport. It Will Be There For Many Years And Generations To Come As Long As You Catch And Release. I Have Many More Memories And Stories As Well As My Siblings.. Maybe. One Of Them Was When We Almost Lost The Pond Because The Dam Broke And We Had To Fix It. Later.
