     The beauty of Harmond Pond attracts many people from all around. Man, is there a load of fun things to do near Harmond Pond. After a long day outdoors Orangeburg - Days Inn South is a perfect place to spend a night or two. Not far from Harmond Pond, you'll stumble on Houch Pond which is a picturesque lake, and why not take a little visit to Cook Branch since you're here. Harmond Pond regularly gets a great deal of precipitation; the wettest month of the year  
   is usually July, that's the one that rains the most, and November meanwhile is the driest month.
Stay the night at Stumphole Landing, and Calhoun Country Club is a wonderful golf course nearby. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Harmond Pond. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 60's. All through the winter highs are in the 50's; overnight lows during the wintertime for Harmond Pond tend to be in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful.
 
               Harmond Pond is not far at all from Orangeburg, and dry warm beds await you at Fairfield Inn By Marriott Orangeburg.
Lakes are nice; Jessie Rast Pond is a lake that's in close proximity to Harmond Pond, and Harmond Pond is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Mountaineer Motel is a tremendous place to camp nearby.

And it further is told that Grandpa Semme was the brother who attended the most of these old-time religion meetings over a greater number of years. Mazie's Grandpa Johnson was also the Johnson brother who passed on his love of the outdoors to his greater family. Not only his sons, but those of Johnny's depended on learning the great Southern sports of hunting and fishing and exploring the wonderful Southland's outdoor wonders.
Carlisle, Nook, Bud, and other Johnson boys would frequently visit with their Uncle Semme to join in with the many hunts and fishing trips on the South Edisto, because their father Johnny was the more studious of the two -- he loved his reading and the more indoor activities of a scholar.
The fishing stories of Odell and Mary which have been told in the Johnson Family Newsletter are evidence of the love of the outdoors which was passed down to the family from Grandpa Semme.
And to some degree, Marley and Heeley are now enjoying the pleasures of the old-time religion at the old camp grounds...
