If you are in Richland county it's always a good idea to stop by Caughmans Pond. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Candlewood Suites COLUMBIA-FT. JACKSON is a glorious location to spend a night or two. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Caughmans Pond has to offer, you can camp at Sesquicentennial State Park. During the months of summer at Caughmans Pond temperatures are mostly in the 90's with overnight lows in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's; night lows during the wintertime for Caughmans Pond tend to be in the 20's. camp here for a while, Capital City Campground is a wonderful site for that. The high level of rainfall makes Caughmans Pond a reasonably wet place; March is when you get the most rain here; November on the other hand is the driest.
Congaree Swamp National Monument is a great local destination here at Caughmans Pond, and not far from Caughmans Pond you get some good water scenery at Lake Trotwood Dam. If you come at the right time of year, Broad River offers
some good whitewater, and a delightful lake like Captain Jims Pond is a good site to check out. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Saluda River, and dry warm beds await you at Columbia-Days Suites Garners Ferry.
