JACKSON is a fine site to spend a night or two; dropping by Congaree Swamp National Monument is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. Captain Jims Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; March is the wettest month with most rain while November is regularly the driest month. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Captain Jims Pond, and the nighttime is a little colder of course, frequently       in the 60's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Captain Jims Pond temperatures drop to the 20's. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Saluda River, and Sesquicentennial State Park is a good local campground. There are some good whitewater spots on Broad River, and why not check out Lake Trotwood Dam while you're here.
