A good location for whitewater paddling in the neighborhood of Caldwells Pond is Broad River, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Newberry is a wonderful location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Dreher Island State Recreation Area is always a magnificent experience; Tyger River is a pleasant whitewater spot nearby. During the summer highs here at Caldwells Pond reach the 90's,       and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Caldwells Pond. Here at Caldwells Pond you'll in all probability meet some people from Newberry. Camping is available at Saluda River Resort; dry warm beds await you at Newberry-Days Inn.
