The Chattooga Trail is a great hiking trail right next door to Butts Pond, and great skiing awaits you at Scaly Mountain. Butts Pond is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Yellow Branch Campground is a nice local campground, and after a long day outdoors Toccoa Days Inn is a wonderful site to spend a night or two. Through the summer here at Butts Pond, high temperatures       mostly reach the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are mostly in the 50's, and night lows at Butts Pond all through the winter regularly dip into the 20's. You get a tremendous panorama of Grassy Mountain from Butts Pond, and if you're visiting from Toccoa, you won't be the only one. Don't stop me now, cause I'm havin' a brilliant time here at Butts Pond. Near Butts Pond you discover                  the Burrells Ford Trail which is a splendid hiking trail; if you need a spot to stay Knights Inn Toccoa is a splendid choice. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Chauga River. There's so much to do here at Butts Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Cassidy Bridge Campground is a delightful location for that. Butts Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. There is a great hiking trail near Butts Pond called the Bartram Trail; Cedar Creek is next to Butts Pond and is always a pleasure to go to.
