In South Carolina there are many beautiful lakes, Broom Pond is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is perfect on Snow River, and a lake close by is Spearman Pond. All the water falling down from the sky makes Broom Pond a wet location; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain, and October is when it's the driest. Broom Pond is a brilliant site to visit for more than one day, Tugaloo State Park is a brilliant site to camp nearby, and Broom Pond is not the only place close by, Gibson Pond is a close by lake. and while you're here you will meet lots of folks from close by Seneca. During the summer months at Broom Pond highs are generally in the 80's. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Broom Pond are in the 20's.

Stonecypher Lake
 | 18 miles away ...5 miles south of Toccoa Ga in the foothills of the Smokie Mountains. It is fed by Freeman Creek, McAvoy Branch and Coe Branch. This lake is located on the farm lands of Palmer Simpson Stonecypher and was constructed in the mid 1950's. The shorelines are constant except in times of heavy rainfall and original life of lake was projected to exceed 100 years. Silt accumulation after 20 years was approximately .5 inche. Normal elevation is apporximately 800'. Feeder streams maintain lake levels even during extended periods of insufficient rainfall and at the same time provide spill into the exiting stream bed. The lake has been pulled down during periods of heavy construction of highways across the feeder streams to allow silt to return to the streams and pass thru thedrain gates. Buena Vista Dr crosses the lake in two places; one being the main dam and again on the Coe Branch inlet. Original construction of dams accommodated these crossings.
