Most of the boats on the lake belong to the lake residents because there is not public landings. Many residents enjoy water sports such as sking and riding in towables, cruising the lake and fishing. There are not boat restrictions. According to many publications, Boyd's Mill is a great lake to catch large mouth bass and catfish. The majority of the lake is not developed however there has been recent construction of many large homes. Many of the residents decorate their docks during the Christmas season. Overall, the lake is beautiful and very relaxing. Also, many people enjoy walking and fishing at the shoals at the bottom of the damn.
