What a nice lake Bigford Pond is. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Savannah River, and if you came to camp Betty's RV and Trailer Court is a pleasant spot to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such calm spots, why not take a look at Mathis Pond close to Bigford Pond. There's so much to do here at Bigford Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Lick Fork Campground is a delightful place for that. The warmest time of the year brings highs in

| | the 90's to Bigford Pond. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's, and overnight lows in the 30's for Bigford Pond. Don't leave Bigford Pond without first going for a hike along the Horn Creek Hiking Trail, and if you need a place to stay Sleep Inn North Augusta is a good choice.  | 17 miles away There are two open spillway dams between the Hwy 28 (Fury's Ferry) Bridge and I-20: Stevens Creek Dam (at the confluence of Stevens Creek) and the Augusta Canal Diversion Dam (about a mile downstream of Stevens Creek Dam). There are no marked access points immediately on either side of either dam. Georgia Power Co. operates an electric generating facility on the Georgia (south) bank at Stevens Creek. At the Canal, since the canal immediately parallels the river some twenty feet above it, there is no river access whatsoever on the Georgia side. Portage would be recommended along private land on the South Carolina side of both dams.... |
