     Why not camp at Mountaineer Motel while you're here at Beckhams Pond; Beckhams Pond is not far at all from Orangeburg. Throughout the long summer days here at Beckhams Pond, high temperatures regularly reach the 90's; the night is quite chillier of course, generally in the 70's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Beckhams Pond plunge into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. A great  
   location to camp here at Beckhams Pond is Wheat water Lake Campground, and there are other spots here than Beckhams Pond, for example Green Pond. This location is so good, just look at all the amusing things to do in close proximity to Beckhams Pond.
A tremendous close by hotel is Sleep Inn Orangeburg; if you're looking for a good visit, Congaree Swamp National Monument is pretty near. The high level of precipitation makes Beckhams Pond a pretty wet spot;
 
               July is the month that gets the most rain while October is ordinarily the driest month. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites ORANGEBURG is a nice choice. Lakes? Sure, Bobby Gressett Pond is close at hand.

And it further is told that Grandpa Semme was the brother who attended the most of these old-time religion meetings over a greater number of years. Mazie's Grandpa Johnson was also the Johnson brother who passed on his love of the outdoors to his greater family. Not only his sons, but those of Johnny's depended on learning the great Southern sports of hunting and fishing and exploring the wonderful Southland's outdoor wonders.
Carlisle, Nook, Bud, and other Johnson boys would frequently visit with their Uncle Semme to join in with the many hunts and fishing trips on the South Edisto, because their father Johnny was the more studious of the two -- he loved his reading and the more indoor activities of a scholar.
The fishing stories of Odell and Mary which have been told in the Johnson Family Newsletter are evidence of the love of the outdoors which was passed down to the family from Grandpa Semme.
And to some degree, Marley and Heeley are now enjoying the pleasures ...
