At Lake Washington Dam near Whites Pond there are some attention-grabbing things to see; lots of folks from Willimantic come here. And if you're still looking for more outdoors exciting stuff just keep reading. Don't leave Whites Pond without first checking out Hemlock Ledges; a spree to Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National       Heritage Corridor is recommended. After a long day outdoors Americas Best Value Inn Brooklyn is a tremendous spot to spend a night or two; whitewater paddling is glorious on Clear and Branch. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Oakleaf Family Campground, and do take a hike on the Munyan Trail. Comfort Inn & Suites Dayville is a magnificent spot to get some rest, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater                  paddling on Quinebaug River. Through the summer here at Whites Pond, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's, and the night is quite colder of course, mostly in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Whites Pond plunge into the 10's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Whites Pond a wet place; throughout the month of November you get the most rain around here; the driest month of the year is February. And if that's not sufficient, there's loads more to do right next door to Whites Pond. right next door to Whites Pond you'll come across a wooded area called George Washington Memorial State Forest. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Whites Pond has to offer, you can camp at Bowdish Lake Camping Area. Whites Pond is right by the Border Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Walkabout Trail; here at Whites Pond you can make out Pine Hill.
