If you need a place to stay Quality Inn Somerset is a wonderful choice. Lakes? Sure, Town Pond is in the neighborhood. This is a popular location for folks from Providence-New Bedford-Fall River, and a splendid sight of pretty Butts Hill is available. Town Pond is a pretty wet place mostly with a large amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls through November, and July is the month with the least moisture. Now, you may imagine that's heaps but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Town Pond. A wonderful close by hotel is Holiday Inn Express SWANSEA, and a great spot is Musselbed Shoals. This lake is so wonderful. A tour to close by Almy Point is very relaxing, and Island Park Beach is relatively close by if you're in a beach type of mood. High temperatures at Town Pond through the summer months are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs
down to the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Town Pond. Camping at Melville Campground Recreation Area is always a nice experience, and Founders Brook is in the neighborhood of Town Pond and is always a diversion
to go to. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site.
This lake is so wonderful. Hit the beach if you want, Grimmells Beach is practically right here, and there are other places here than Town Pond, for example Cedar Island Pond.

Echo Lake
| Echo Lake is the best fishing lake in northern R.I. It has large mouth bass, pike, pickeral, and several varieties of pan fish. I have been fishing this lake for 45 years and it still produces some real fine fish....Echo is a nice pond. I go all the time and always catch something. The biggest i caught was a 6.5 pound large mouth on a watermelon colored lizard. Good place for bass....Pond is mostly made up of kivers and mabey a few striped bass nothing orn thsn 2.5 pounds. Takes about an hour, fish are extremly smart and picky. You are better off with brickyard which has fish up to 40 pounds and trout... |
